Step 1: export from Google.
Google Takeout makes the file. It can take a while for a large mailbox.
- Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Keep only Mail selected. Under All Mail data included you can choose labels, or keep everything.
- Press Next step, choose Send download link via email, and press Create export.
- When Google’s email arrives, download the .zip file and unzip it. Your mail is the .mbox file in the Mail folder.
In the same export you can tick Contacts and Calendar too: they come as vCard and .ics files, which Dazr Contacts and Dazr Calendar import.
Step 2: import into Dazr Mail.

- Sign in to Dazr Mail, or get a free address first.
- In Mail settings, under Account and addresses, press Move to Dazr Mail.
- Under Mail files, choose your .mbox file and press Import.
- Keep the page open while it runs. Your old mail then shows up in Dazr Mail, searchable straight away.

What is an .mbox file?
One file that holds many emails, one after the other. Google Takeout exports your Gmail in this format, in the Mail folder of the .zip file it sends you.
Do I need Thunderbird or a converter?
No. Dazr Mail imports the .mbox file in the browser. There is nothing to install.
Is my Gmail sorted the same way after the import?
Mail from Google Takeout is sorted as in Gmail. It keeps its own dates and is marked as read, and you can search it straight away.
How big can the file be?
As big as the storage of your plan allows: 1 GB on Free, 750 GB on Personal. Keep the page open while the import runs.
